United Against Online Abuse Brings Global Campaign to São Paulo Grand Prix
The United Against Online Abuse (UAOA) initiative will mark a major milestone at the Formula 1 São Paulo Grand Prix, bringing its global campaign for safer online communities to Latin America.

The São Paulo Grand Prix activation comes at a particularly relevant time. Research and monitoring conducted through UAOA indicate that a significant proportion of online abuse currently being tracked originates from Latin America, making the region a key focus for awareness and action.
As part of the activation, Formula 1 drivers will be invited to sign a specially designed UAOA-branded helmet, creating a collective pledge against online abuse and demonstrating the sport's shared commitment to respect and accountability online. The helmet will later be auctioned, with all proceeds supporting a local Latin American organisation working to prevent cyberbullying and protect young people online.
FIA President and Founder of UAOA H.E. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, says: "Online abuse is more than words on a screen. It has real consequences, affecting the lives and wellbeing of millions of young people across Latin America and around the world. Today, here in São Paulo, we stand united with our drivers and the wider motorsport community to send a powerful message: there is no place for online abuse in our sport or in our society. (….) On the track, we compete. Online, we respect. Together, we have the power and the responsibility to drive hate out of sport and build a safer environment for future generations.”
FIA Vice President for Sport - South America, Fabiana Ecclestone, says: "Brazil has always been passionate about sport, and with that passion comes a responsibility to help shape positive and respectful communities, both on and off the field of play. Online abuse affects millions of people, particularly young people, and it requires collective action. I am proud to support United Against Online Abuse in bringing this important conversation to São Paulo. Through initiatives like this, sport can use its unique influence to promote respect, digital responsibility, and a culture where everyone feels safe to participate and express themselves online."
The São Paulo activation reflects UAOA's founding principles of Stronger Together, Evidence Led, and Committed to Action, while demonstrating how collaborative efforts can deliver meaningful change both within sport and beyond.
