Motorsport South Africa hosts successful driver training programme
FIA Sport Grant Programme helps ASN develop its young talented drivers with the Motorsport Development Academy.

The FIA Sport Grant Programme was established in 2014 as a new source of funding for National Sporting Authorities (ASNs).
It is dedicated to developing motor sport and helping to strengthen the organisational infrastructure of ASNs, and is overseen by the Sport Funding Commission (SFC), which reviews the annual funding submissions and determines which projects will be awarded a grant. Find out more about the application process here.
One such project to receive backing was Motor Sport South Africa’s Motor Sport Development Academy (MDA). The initiative took 18 of the country’s brightest young racers and put them through a training programme which covered a broad range of topics.
Utilising state of the art facilities in association with their partners, the ASN was able to produce a programme which coached the drivers not just on their skills behind the wheel, but on areas such as fitness and nutrition, psychology and media relations.
