P1 Speedway in Costa Rica brought together 213 competitors from 71 teams last month for the first edition of "Con Motor y Corazón," a charity karting event held in support of the reconstruction of La Posada del Alivio. The event set a new benchmark for karting participation in the country, recording the largest number of competitors gathered for a single karting event in Costa Rica to date.

Organised by P1 Speedway with the Asociación Pro-Hospital Nacional de Niños and Parque Diversiones, the initiative raised US$86,513, surpassing its original target. The funds will support the reconstruction of La Posada del Alivio, which provides accommodation for families of children treated at Costa Rica's National Children's Hospital. Held at the P1 Speedway circuit in San José, the event drew more than 40 sponsoring companies alongside families and motor sport fans, with car and motorcycle exhibitions, live music and a local entrepreneurs' fair running alongside the competition.

Con Motor y Corazón shows exactly the kind of grassroots energy and community spirit that is driving motor sport growth across the Americas, and I congratulate P1 Speedway and everyone involved in turning a record entry list into such a meaningful result for the families supported by La Posada del Alivio."

Eugenio Valldeperas, President of the Board of Directors of P1 Speedway, added: "We firmly believe that karting can also be a platform to create a positive impact and contribute to causes that benefit our society. The response from the teams, sponsors and participants shows that when we work together towards a common goal, we can achieve truly meaningful results."

Over the past five years, La Posada del Alivio has supported more than 5,000 people, over 60 per cent from outside Costa Rica's central region. The reconstruction will double accommodation capacity and expand essential services for families accompanying children through medical treatment.

The event's Endurance Karting competition saw Motos Suzuki 1 win the Amateur category, Telecable 6 take the P1 Speedway category, and Precovensa 2 claim victory in the event's main La Posada del Alivio category.
