Karting Africa Showrun in Angola To Bring Together 39 Drivers from 14 African Countries

The Karting Africa Showrun in Angola will bring together 39 drivers from 14 African countries, selected through their National Sporting Authorities (ASNs). Held over 6 – 11 October 2026, it will be a milestone for the continent's emerging Pan-African karting platform.
The initiative was presented to the global motor sport community during the FIA Conference in Macau earlier this year and has developed considerably since. The Showrun is hosted in Angola with the support of the Government of Angola and the FIA Member Club in Angola, the Federação Angolana de Desporto Motorizado (FADM). It reflects the growing engagement of African ASNs in creating accessible, structured opportunities for young drivers across the region.
Karting Africa was founded by Wesleigh Orr, who has spent years working to create greater opportunities for African drivers and to build a motor sport platform designed around the continent.
Rodrigo Rocha, FIA Vice-President for Sport (Africa), said: " 14 African countries coming together through their ASNs is a very encouraging sign for the future of motor sport on the continent. Karting is the natural starting point for young drivers, and this Showrun shows what is possible when the region works together. We are grateful to the Government of Angola and to FADM for hosting the event and for their strong support.”
Antonio dos Santos Peras, President of Federação Angolana de Desporto Motorizado (FADM), said: “FADM is privileged and honoured to be the inaugural host of this event. We believe this is a clear demonstration of the commitment of both FADM and the Angolan Government to the development of grassroots motorsport in Angola. The initiative also goes hand in hand with our project to develop motorsport infrastructure at provincial level. We welcome other countries to join this effort and look forward to seeing our young drivers travelling across Africa to represent and contribute to a truly African initiative.”
Wesleigh Orr, Founder of WORR Motorsport and Karting Africa, said: "This is no longer just an idea. Africa is coming together. The Showrun is the beginning of something much bigger."
The Showrun is also a preview event for the planned African Karting Cup in 2027, a one-make platform intended to bring African drivers together and create a clear pathway for the next generation. The event also directly supports the FIA's mission to double motor sport participation worldwide.
