The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has revealed the Region IV Champions of the FIA Innovation Challenge 2026, celebrating the projects that are driving mobility solutions across South and Central America.

Announced as Region IV Champions at the FIA American Congress in Buenos Aires, Argentina, were FIA Member Clubs:

• Automóvil Club Argentino (ACA, Argentina) for ‘ACA Sostenible’, an integrated electromobility and assistance network.
• Automóvel Clube Brasileiro (ACBr, Brazil) for its ‘Safe Roads Platform’, a real-time navigation tool that avoids risk and adapts to every vehicle.
• Touring y Automóvil Club del Perú (TACP, Peru) for its ‘Practical Safety Guide for Drivers’, transforming road behaviour to save lives.

With 15 submissions across South and Central America, a 50% increase on the first edition of the Challenge, Member Clubs throughout Region IV are reinforcing their commitment to supporting individuals and businesses with solutions for safer, more sustainable, and more affordable mobility.

The ACA has developed a network to support the transition towards more electric mobility in Argentina, while ACBr is using the latest technology and GPS data to help all road users avoid risks on every journey. And through close collaboration with the public and private sectors in Peru, the TACP is providing the digital tools to improve driver behaviour and save lives on the road.

The FIA Innovation Challenge is an annual contest promoting and celebrating impactful and scalable business and services projects from Member Clubs in the four global Mobility Regions across the FIA Network (Asia Pacific / Europe, Middle East and Africa / North America / South and Central America).

Three champions will be selected from each of the four Mobility Regions, with a global judging panel selecting one Global Winner from each Region, who will receive their awards at the FIA General Assemblies week in Shanghai, China, in December. 

The Winning Submissions:

ACA Sostenible | Integrated electromobility and assistance network (ACA, Argentina)

ACA Sostenible transforms the Automóvil Club Argentino’s (ACA) traditional vehicle assistance model into an electric mobility system. The project combines three core components including: a network of electric charging infrastructure, benefits and incentives for owners of electric vehicles, and the first electric and intelligent mechanical assistance available in Latin America. Through ACA Sostenible, the ACA is positioning itself as a leader supporting the transition towards an alternative energy transport system in Argentina.

César Carman, President of the ACA said: “ACA Sostenible represents an important step in supporting Argentina's transition towards more diverse mobility solutions. As electric vehicles become more visible on the road, drivers need confidence that the infrastructure, services and technical support are in place to meet their needs on every journey.

“By combining charging infrastructure, member benefits and innovative roadside assistance, we are creating a comprehensive ecosystem that helps remove barriers and supports a more sustainable future for mobility in our country.”

Safe Roads Platform | Real-time navigation that avoids risk and adapts to every vehicle (ACBr, Brazil)

The Safe Roads platform developed by Automóvel Clube Brasileiro (ACBr), is a GPS-based security system that alerts users and reroutes vehicles away from areas with high crime rates. With real-time monitoring via an app, it provides route planning for cars, bikes, pedestrians and lorries. For heavy goods vehicles, it also calculates tailored routes based on height, width, length and weight, avoiding restricted roads and reducing risks. Through the platform, ACBr aims to reduce costs, increase efficiency and improve driver safety on every journey.

Joaquim Melo, President of the ACBr said: “Road users today face a wide range of challenges that go beyond traffic congestion, including security risks and the increasing complexity of transport networks. The Safe Roads Platform, developed in partnership with Genesis Tecnologia, is helping drivers make better-informed decisions and reach their destinations more safely.

“By leveraging real-time data and intelligent route-planning technology, we can provide tailored guidance for all road users, reducing risks while improving efficiency, reliability and confidence on the road.”

Practical Safety Guide for Drivers | Transforming road behaviour to save lives (TACP, Peru)

The Touring y Automóvil Club del Perú (TACP), rideshare app inDrive and the Peruvian National Police are revolutionising road safety with the ‘Practical Safety Guide for Drivers’, an interactive e-book integrated directly into the inDrive app. This collaboration between public and private sectors combines the scale of the inDrive platform with the road safety expertise of the TACP. The project provides drivers with real-time digital tools to improve driving behaviour, offering an innovative, scalable and people-centred model to help save lives.

Iván Dibós Mier, President of the TACP said: “Human behaviour remains one of the most significant factors in road traffic collisions, but education continues to be a powerful tool for improving road safety. Through this initiative, we are bringing practical and accessible guidance directly to drivers where and when they need it most.

“Our collaboration with inDrive and the Peruvian National Police demonstrates how partnerships can help reach road users at scale to build a stronger culture of responsible driving and ultimately save lives. As a next step, we are working to replicate this same model with other mobility platforms, as well as delivery platforms, given the high accident rates affecting motorcycle riders in these sectors."
