Goodyear FIA ETRC Jarama day two round-up: Newell is the new Chrome king as Steffi Halm makes it a double
John Newell secured the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship Chrome title* with one race to spare during an action-packed season showdown at Circuito de Madrid Jarama – RACE.

His performance in Race 3 earned the points he needed to put the accolade out of defending champion Mark Taylor’s reach on a day when Lukas Hahn claimed two Chrome category wins.
“Superb, I’m over the moon with that,” new Goodyear FIA ETRC Chrome champion* Newell said. “It worked out that little bit easier than I thought it would do but once we started pulling a gap, I could relax a bit, just kept it safe and it’s done now.”
Norbert Kiss scored his 20th outright win from his 14th pole position of the season in Race 3 as Steffi Halm joined Kiss as the only driver to triumph more than once overall in 2026.

Jochen Hahn, who finished runner-up to Kiss in Race 3, snatched second place in the final overall standings from Sascha Lenz on the countback rule after they finished level on points following Race 4. Home hero Antonio Albacete completed the Race 3 podium with José Eduardo Rodrigues and Lukas Hahn joining Halm on the Race 4 rostrum.

Race 3 winner Norbert Kiss said: “Good start is always the key, confident braking to Turn 1 then I could go in front and again a good job from the team, Révész Racing. Even though we already won the championship in Le Mans we arrived very well prepared to Jarama so we could do the maximum as well here. Pole position, the race victory, the pace was good, the tyres were working very well to the end. We’re very happy.”
Race 3 Chrome winner Lukas Hahn said: “It was a tricky race because of Antonio [Albacete] and Sascha [Lenz] battling, but I was just looking that we don’t crash the truck and can have a good result in the end in Chrome. But all was good, the truck is fine and P5 overall and P1 in Chrome we are really happy.”
Race 4 winner Steffi Halm said: “For me it’s good to have the victory at the end because it was a tough season for us. For sure we planned more but in the end it was the sixth place. Now it’s push to work hard during the winter to be stronger next year. There was a red flag and I didn’t see it. I tried to pass René, I thought he had a problem maybe with the shifting. I saw the red flag and then I braked and I just hit him because I didn’t see the red flag and I’m really, really sorry for that.”
Race 4 Chrome winner Lukas Hahn said: “It’s really amazing, we cannot imagine it before. It was a really good weekend. We had a lot of pace, also hard fights and the last race was pretty hard to hold Sascha behind me, but I’m really happy, everything is perfect. And to win Goodyear Wingfoot Award is something special because the fans are supporting us the whole season and help us to win it.”
All drivers race with Goodyear’s new-for-2026 tyre, which features 60 per cent sustainable materials. Lukas Hahn was chosen as the winner of the Goodyear Wingfoot Award via a fan vote on Instagram during Race 4 ahead of Norbert Kiss and Bradley Smith.
