Tender process for 2026 season to commence over coming weeks.
The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has today announced a partnership with LeCont to supply tyres for the KZ categories of the remaining rounds of the 2025 Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship.
Following extensive, constructive and collaborative discussions with Anderson CSK-Motorsport and Sumitomo Rubber Industries (the supplier and manufacturer of Dunlop Tyres), the FIA has made the decision to change tyre suppliers to support the competitiveness of the category and maintain confidence in tyre performance and consistency among drivers, teams, and manufacturers. As a consequence the FIA and Anderson CSK-Motorsport mutually agreed to terminate their current contract with immediate effect.
LeCont will begin supplying tyres from the next and final round of the European Championship in Mülsen, Germany, scheduled for 17–20 July 2025.
The FIA has remained in close communication with teams, drivers, and manufacturers throughout this process to ensure a smooth transition and minimal disruption to race preparations. Further operational details will be shared directly with all teams over the coming days and weeks.
Akbar Ebrahim, CIK-FIA President said:
“The FIA is pleased to welcome LeCont as the tyre supplier for the remaining FIA events of the KZ categories. LeCont is already involved in a number of FIA Karting Cups and Trophies, supplying tyres in two other categories. The Italian tyre manufacturer brings proven experience at the top level of karting and we are confident this partnership will support a smooth and consistent conclusion to the 2025 season.”
Action at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli demonstrated the strength and competitiveness of the 2025 season across KZ categories. Last lap drama in the KZ2 Masters category saw Antonio Piccioni secure the European Championship title whilst Maksim Orlov delivered an assured performance to win the KZ2 final by 12 seconds placing himself in a dominant position in the championship. Finally, in the KZ category a key first lap overtake saw Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand take the top step of the podium.
The next round of the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship will be held in Mülsen, Germany with the KZ, KZ2 and Academy-Junior categories all in action at the Motorsportarena Mülsen GmbH. The gearbox season will come to a close on 9-12 October in Franciacorta, Italy, with the Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship – KZ, the FIA Karting World Cup – KZ2 and the FIA Karting International Super Cup – KZ2 Masters.
