Fastest in every qualifying shootout so far in 2026, Hungarian Kiss will be joined on the front row of the grid for the first of two races this afternoon by Antonio Albacete after the Spaniard hit back from his earlier weekend woes to go second quickest.

Jochen Hahn completed the Q6 battle for pole with the third fastest time ahead of Sascha Lenz, his son Lukas, who won Race 2 on Saturday, and Mark Taylor.

Hahn Jr’s performance meant he edged out defending champion Taylor for the Chrome pole position.

“It was a very good job from the team, Révész Racing so I’m very happy for the guys because the truck works very well and is making my job a bit easier,” Kiss said. “But, of course, I have to do some good laps, no mistakes, and it’s very easy to make a mistake, to lock-up, to go wide in a qualifying lap. I have to do my part as well to have this position.”

Of his capture of eight pole positions out of eight in 2026, Kiss added: “I’m very happy with it, we are very strong this season. We’ve done this before, winning all the qualifying sessions during the whole season, so it’s not something new. We can be fast, for sure, but on a circuit like this, the test circuit, known by all drivers, it’s always nice to be consistently in front, especially because this is usually the closest circuit. For sure we have a bit of an advantage over the field, and we try to make the most of that.”

Defending Chrome champion Taylor said: “Really happy, team’s happy, it’s brought us back because we’ve always qualified good. Friday was just one of them things, where I touched a marker [lost my best lap] and it rained. You can’t make that up. Unfortunately, what we had is what we had, we’ve tried our best and come out with some good points. Today we’ve gone out, the team’s worked hard, we’ve gone out strong and got P6. I had a few mistakes, a couple of lock-ups like you do but now we’ve got to keep it together for the race and get some points back.”

How the battle for Goodyear FIA ETRC pole position unfolded
An early banker of 2m00.913s from Norbert Kiss secured first position in Qualifying 4 for the defending champion with Jochen Hahn second fastest ahead of Steffi Halm and Sascha Lenz.

Lukas Hahn was fifth quickest after the 15-minute session followed by Antonio Albacete and José Eduardo Rodrigues. John Newell also progressed to Q5 along with Bradley Smith, René Reinert and Mark Taylor, with home hero Adam Lacko the final driver not to fall into the Q4 drop zone.

Luke Garrett headed the list of drivers who failed to progress to Q5 along with Luis Recuenco, Steffen Faas, Emma Mäkinen and Christian Ruppert.

Kiss was quickest again in the 10-minute Q5, his early effort of 2m00.981s proving the time to beat with Lenz, Lukas Hahn and Jochen Hahn next up. Albacete (pictured above) and Taylor also made it through to the pole position shootout, having failed to do so during the rain-hit Friday qualifying.

While Kiss, Lenz, the Hahn father-and-son pairing, Albacete and Taylor continued their fight for pole by progressing to the five-minute Q6, Smith just missed out in seventh place. Newell, Reinert, Halm, Lacko and Rodrigues were also eliminated, penalty marker infringements hindering Halm and Rodrigues in particular.

Kiss made sure of an eighth pole position out of eight in 2026 in a time of 2m00.637s. Albacete was 0.678s adrift after he demoted Jochen Hahn and Lenz with Lukas Hahn securing the Chrome pole in fifth followed by Taylor.

Race 3 provides the next Goodyear FIA ETRC action from 13:15 with Race 4, the weekend’s final contest, due to begin at 16:15. Both races, which are scheduled for 11 laps, will be streamed as they happen on YouTube.
