WEC: Toyota masters mixed conditions to clinch the crown in Spain
Toyota has become the 2026 FIA World Endurance Manufacturers’ Champion courtesy of a one-two finish in the inaugural running of the 6 Hours of Barcelona, the penultimate round of this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship season.

The Japanese manufacturer took a commanding one-two finish in today’s race, which meant its eighth title as a team in the FIA WEC, five of which have been in the Hypercar category since 2021, reinforcing its position as the WEC’s most successful manufacturer in the Hypercar era.
The #8 Toyota Racing crew of Sébastien Buemi, Ryō Hirakawa and Brendon Hartley took their second consecutive win and their third of the 2026 campaign after a dominant display in which they led conclusively from the very first hour.
Toyota took control of the race on the opening lap. Starting from second on the grid, Buemi initially lost ground to third-place starter and local ace Dani Juncadella, who passed both Buemi and his stablemate, polesitter Andre Lotterer, only for Buemi to regain the lead after the opening few corners as Juncadella went off in wet conditions and eventually lost ground.
From that moment on, the #8 Toyota was a dominant force in the race, leading home the sister TR010 Hybrid of Nyck de Vries, Kamui Kobayashi and Mike Conway to ensure they have a solid points buffer over their stablemates in the drivers’ standings heading to the final race at Monza next month.
Completing the podium at Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya was the #50 Ferrari AF Corse 499P of Antonio Fuoco, Nicklas Nielsen and Miguel Molina.
SEVENTH DIFFERENT WINNER FROM SEVEN RACES
Porsche took the LMGT3 honours with Richard Lietz, Yasser Shahin and Riccardo Pera also dominating proceedings to take their first win of the season in The Bend Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 entry.
Seven different winners from the seven LMGT3 races this year is the highest number of different winners in a single GT class in a season, emphasising the close and competitive nature of the multi-manufacturer category.
