WEC: Cadillac shines in São Paulo to take maiden win

13.07.25

Cadillac claimed its maiden FIA World Endurance Championship victory, as Hertz Team JOTA dominated in the 6 Hours of São Paulo, round five of this year’s season, with its pair of V-Series.Rs finishing 1-2

The #12 Cadillac V-Series.R, driven by Alex Lynn, Norman Nato and Will Stevens, came out on top after six hours of racing, overcoming a tyre-pressure infringement penalty early in the race to secure Cadillac’s first-ever overall WEC win.

Despite the setback, Lynn and co. stormed back into contention, pulling clear after a brief early challenge from Porsche. Nato took the chequered flag 57s ahead of the sister #38 Cadillac, shared by Earl Bamber, Sébastien Bourdais and Jenson Button, underlining the team's dominance in Brazil.

The #5 Porsche Penske Motorsport entry of Julien Andlauer and Michael Christensen completed the podium, just 1.8s adrift of the second Cadillac, with Andlauer who took lead after the start, also briefly looked like a threat for the #38 in the closing stages of the race. The #6 Porsche (Kévin Estre/Laurens Vanthoor) finished fourth.

BMW and Peugeot both showed improved pace, with the #20 BMW M Team WRT entry (Rene Rast/Marco Wittmann/Sheldon van der Linde) securing fifth, followed by both Peugeot 9X8s. The Ferrari 499Ps struggled, with the best car being the Le Mans-wining #83 entry, which crossed the line in eighth place.

LEXUS IN WEC WINNERS’ CIRCLE
In LMGT3, Akkodis ASP Team finally converted their consistent form into a breakthrough win, as José María López, Clemens Schmid and Petru Umbrărescu guided the #87 Lexus RC F to a commanding class victory. The trio held firm despite intense pressure, giving Lexus its first-ever LMGT3 win in the FIA WEC.

The fight for the remaining podium spots was intense. TF Sport’s #81 Corvette Z06 (Tom Van Rompuy/Rui Andrade/Charlie Eastwood) came home second, just under 38s behind the winners. Brazilian local favourite Eduardo “Dudu” Barrichello, who had thrilled the home crowd by putting the #10 Racing Spirit of Leman Aston Martin on pole, capped a memorable weekend with a hard-fought third alongside teammates Anthony Mcintosh and Valentin Hasse-Clot.
