Wibbeler, Mandel, Hanák and Méat open 2026 FIA Autocross and Cross Car season with victory in Seelow
The 2026 FIA Autocross and Cross Car Championships got underway this past weekend in Seelow, Germany, with four different winners emerging from a competitive opening round.

In Super Buggy, Germany’s Markus Wibbeler made a strong start to his campaign, taking victory on home soil in his Alfa Racing SuperBuggy. Wibbeler leaves Seelow at the top of the standings with 31 points, just one point clear of the Netherlands’ Teun van Asten, who finished second. Czech driver Petr Nikodém completed the podium in third, also on 30 points, setting up an already tight early championship battle.
There was further German success in Buggy1600, as Rene Mandel delivered a commanding performance to claim the category win and the maximum 35 points. France’s Malone Feuillade secured second place with 31 points, while Germany’s Toni Hoyer completed the top three, beginning his season with 21 points.
In Junior Buggy, Czech driver Ladislav Hanák opened his 2026 campaign in perfect fashion, taking victory in Seelow and moving to the head of the standings on 35 points. The Netherlands’ Tinus Franssen finished second with 30 points, while Germany’s Conrad Theodor Bahlsen took third place on home territory with 24 points.
The Cross Car category was led by France’s David Méat, who claimed the opening-round win in his Speedcar Wonder R and secured the full 35 points. Luxembourg’s Bob Schanen finished second, level on 28 points with French driver Vincent Mercier, who completed the podium in third.
With Seelow complete, the 2026 FIA Autocross and Cross Car Championships are already finely poised across all four categories, with narrow margins at the front and several early contenders established ahead of the next round.
