FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 Championships announce 2027 calendars
The FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 Championships have announced their respective 2027 calendars, featuring a combined 14 Formula 2 and 10 Formula 3 rounds across four continents, with several new venues and major milestones for both categories.

The 2027 season will see Formula 2 welcome Istanbul and Mexico City to its calendar, alongside the return of Montreal following its successful addition to the 2026 season.
Formula 3 will expand its international footprint further, visiting Jeddah, Montreal and Istanbul for the first time and making its historic North American debut.
The two championships will share the majority of their 2027 calendar, beginning with back-to-back events in March at Sakhir, Bahrain, and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, before travelling to Melbourne, Australia in April, and Montreal, Canada in May.
The 2027 single-seater season will get underway in Sakhir alongside Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3, before the championships head directly to Jeddah one week later. Formula 3 will make its debut at the fast and demanding Jeddah Corniche Circuit, providing the 30-car field with a new challenge from the very beginning of the season.
Melbourne will follow in April, before Montreal hosts both championships in May. For Formula 3, the event will mark a historic first appearance in North America, while Formula 2 will return to the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve following its successful addition to the 2026 calendar.
The European leg of the season will begin in June at Monte-Carlo, Monaco, one of the most prestigious and challenging venues on the calendar. Formula 2 and Formula 3 will then return to Silverstone, Great Britain, and Spielberg, Austria, for back-to-back rounds in July before the summer break.
September will see Formula 2 embark on a three-round stretch, beginning at Monza, Italy, followed by Madrid, Spain, and concluding at Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan. Formula 3 will resume its campaign at Monza before travelling to Madrid for its final European round of the season.
October will bring two new challenges for Formula 2. The Championship will visit Istanbul, Türkiye, for the first time before heading to Mexico City, Mexico, for another highly anticipated addition to the calendar. The inclusion of Istanbul and Mexico City creates a more balanced Formula 2 schedule, reducing the previously extended gap ahead of the final two rounds in Lusail and Yas Island.
For Formula 3, Istanbul will provide a fitting conclusion to the 2027 campaign. The visit to Istanbul Park will be the third new venue on its calendar and will bring the Championship's 10-round season to a close.
The addition of Mexico City to the FIA Formula 2 calendar was confirmed today during a press conference attended by FIA Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel, Formula 1 Gran Premio de la Ciudad de México Managing Director Federico Gonzalez Compean and FIA Formula 2 drivers Rafael Villagomez and Noel Leon.
The 2027 Formula 2 season will conclude in December with consecutive race weekends at Lusail, Qatar, and Yas Island, UAE, with the latter hosting the season finale.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, said: “The 2027 FIA Formula 2 Championship calendar reflects the continued strength and global growth of an important championship at the heart of our driver development pathway. The addition of Istanbul and Mexico City will bring Formula 2 to new audiences and give the next generation of talent the opportunity to compete on an even greater variety of circuits around the world. Alongside the return to Montreal, these additions further strengthen a truly international calendar across four continents.
“I look forward to another exciting season and to seeing the stars of the future continue their journey towards the highest levels of our sport.
“Formula 3 is where many drivers begin to prove themselves on the international stage, and the 2027 calendar will give them an exceptional range of challenges where they can develop their skills. Racing in North America for the first time is an important milestone for the Championship, while the additions of Jeddah and Istanbul will test our drivers across demanding circuits.
“Providing young talent with these experiences is fundamental to building the future of our sport, and I look forward to watching this next generation rise to the challenge throughout the 2027 season.”
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said: “The 2027 FIA Formula 2 calendar will deliver another exciting season of racing across 14 rounds at some of the most iconic and challenging venues in world motorsport, including the addition of Istanbul and Mexico City. Formula 2 continues to play a vital role as the ultimate pathway to Formula 1, giving the most promising young drivers the opportunity to compete on the same stage as the pinnacle of our sport and showcase their talent to fans, teams and partners around the world. Year after year, the Championship delivers outstanding racing and helps develop the next generation of Formula 1 stars. I would like to thank the FIA President and their entire team, Bruno Michel and his team, as well as all our promoters, partners, officials, marshals and volunteers whose dedication and commitment make this Championship possible. I look forward to following another highly competitive season in 2027."
“We have seen great racing in Formula 3 in 2026, including an incredible fight for the title, which ultimately went to the first ever American driver to win the Championship, and the 2027 season is set to build on that momentum with another exciting generation of young talent coming through the motorsport pyramid. Racing alongside Formula 1 is a unique opportunity for these drivers to develop their skills, showcase their potential and prepare themselves for the demands of the highest level of our sport. The 2027 calendar marks an exciting step for Formula 3, with the Championship visiting four continents and introducing new venues that will provide fresh challenges for drivers and teams alike. I would like to thank the FIA President and their entire team, Bruno Michel and his team, as well as our promoters, partners, officials, marshals and volunteers, whose dedication and commitment make the Championship possible. Formula 3 continues to play a vital role in developing the stars of tomorrow, and I look forward to another outstanding season of racing in 2027."
FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 CEO Bruno Michel said: “I’m very excited to add three new venues in a financially sustainable way, with the return of Montreal following its surprise addition in 2026 and the first appearance of Istanbul and Mexico City. We will be covering freight costs so that the territorial expansion of the calendar does not financially impact our teams. With a calendar spanning four continents and a carefully distributed sequence of Rounds, the 2027 FIA formula 2 Championship will offer teams and drivers a demanding and diverse season, while bringing the category to new audiences and strengthening its position as a global platform for the next generation of Formula 1 talent.”
“The 2027 FIA Formula 3 calendar is groundbreaking, with three new venues that represent a formidable challenge for the teams and the drivers. It will be very exciting to see the F3 cars at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, and I’m extremely pleased to bring F3 to North America for the very first time thanks to the addition of Montreal to the calendar. Istanbul Park will host the season finale, another new challenge next season. Just like for F2, we will be covering freight costs so that the territorial expansion of the calendar does not financially impact our teams.”
