Round 2 of the 2021 FIA European Historic Rally Championship will take place in the Czech Republic with the 29th edition of the Historic Vltava Rallye. The rally is based in the Bohemian city of Klatovy and has attracted a truly international field with a great selection of historic cars to compete for class honours on the Czech roads.

Finnish duo Pentti Veikkanen and Timo Jaakkola have been a regular feature on the FIA EHRC for many years in their distinctive Category 3 Porsche 911 SC, which they have named ‘The Red Devil’.

Lucio Da Zanche and Daniele De Luis (no2 Porsche 911SC) finished the second day of the 36th Sanremo Rally Storico where they started in the morning, holding a commanding lead over their nearest rivals to secure victory in Round 1 of the FIA European Historic Rally Championship.

The no2 Porsche 911SC is ahead of reigning champions ‘Lucky’ and Fabrizia Pons in the distinctive liveried Lancia Delta Integrale.

Round 1 of the 2021 FIA European Historic Rally Championship, the 36th Sanremo Rally Storico (9-10 April 2021), has attracted a total of 66 cars, with 23 full season entries taking part. All of the reigning driver and co-driver champions in the four categories are competing in the season opener, with ‘Lucky’ and Fabrizia Pons in Category 4, Karl Wagner and Gerda Zauner in Category 3, Anders and Ingrid Johnsen in Category 2 and Antonio Parisi and Giuseppe D’Angelo in Category 1

Husband and wife team Ernie and Karen Graham have been a regular feature on the FIA European Historic Rally Championship since 2017. In 2019 they had their best season with several Category 1 victories in their Ford Escort Twincam enabling them to finish second overall at the end of the season, just two points behind championship Antonio Parsi and Giuseppe D’Angelo.

The 36th Sanremo Rally Storico will get underway on Friday 9th April and will host Round 1 of the nine round 2021 FIA European Historic Rally Championship.

In December 2020 John Naylor was appointed as the new President of the FIA Historic Motor Sport Commission, taking over from Paolo Cantarella, who had held the post since 2014. John Naylor brings with him a wealth of experience as a competitor, engineer and official, both in his native Ireland and on the international stage, to the role.

2001 French Rally Champion and former World Rally Championship competitor Jean-François Mourgues will take part in the 2021 FIA European Historic Rally Championship at the wheel of a BMW M3 with co-driver Denis Giraudet, who himself has five WRC rally wins between 1993 and 2001, one with Juha Kankkunen and four with Didier Auriol.

The 2021 FIA European Historic Rally Championship is due to get underway next month with the Sanremo Rally Storico in Italy, the first of nine rallies planned on this season’s calendar. After an exciting and action packed 2019 season the competitors are looking forward to getting back onto the stages across Europe after the 2020 was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
