New document set to support stewards’ decision-making by clarifying acceptable on-track conduct.

Already introduced in the FIA Formula One World Championship, bespoke Driving Standards Guidelines will be rolled out in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship from this weekend’s Berlin E-Prix double-header (12-13 July) – the penultimate stop on the series’ Season 11 schedule.

Formulated in consultation with the category’s competitors, the guidelines are intended to assist stewards in reaching fair and consistent decisions in relation to on-track incidents and infringements. Their publication further cements the FIA’s commitment to transparency and ongoing improvement to officiating across all motor sport.

They have been designed to be considered alongside driver and team statements, video and technical evidence and the applicable sporting regulations when determining the administration of penalties, while serving as a reference point for competitors with respect to appropriate on-track conduct in a variety of racing situations.

Specifically adapted to the particularities of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship racing, this set of Driving Standards Guidelines provide clarity on a conduct in variety of situations, including moving under coasting, how to rejoin the track after cutting a chicane to avoid any energy gain, how to blend following Attack Mode activation or the priority that applies in pitlane after Pit Boost Stops.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem commented: “FIA Stewards and Officials play a crucial role in maintaining safety and fairness across all levels of motorsport. As the governing body, we are committed to equipping them with the tools, resources, and support they need to uphold the highest standards in the sport.

"The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship Driving Standards Guidelines have been specifically developed for this series, through close collaboration with drivers, officials, and industry experts. This tailor-made framework ensures that driving conduct aligns with the unique demands and spirit of the championship."
