28.04.26
  • Autodromo Nazionale Monza has achieved the FIA Road Safety Index’s highest 3-star rating, supported by the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI).

  • The “Temple of Speed” becomes the second racetrack in the world to achieve this distinction.

  • The FIA Road Safety Index is a data-driven framework that enables organisations to assess, manage, report, and improve their road safety footprint.

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has announced that the Autodromo Nazionale Monza has achieved the maximum 3-star rating under the FIA Road Safety Index for its commitment to managing road safety within its mobility operations, with the support of FIA Member Club, the Automobile Club d’Italia (ACI).

Developed by the FIA, with the support of the FIA Foundation, the FIA Road Safety Index gives organisations worldwide a data-driven methodology to assess, manage, report, and improve their road safety footprint. The Index helps organisations turn road safety commitments into measurable action and accountability by identifying risks, implementing targeted improvements, and strengthening transparency in ESG reporting.

The 3-star rating for Autodromo Nazionale Monza reflects a clear, structured approach that puts safety at the heart of its operations, with measures to reduce travel risks and promote safe driving among staff and partners.

The Autodromo Nazionale Monza, universally known as the “Temple of Speed”, is home to the FIA Formula One World Championship Italian Grand Prix and is one of the most iconic venues in international motor sport. It is the second racetrack in the world to receive the 3-star FIA Road Safety Index recognition, following Piero Taruffi Circuit in Vallelunga’s success in 2025.

H.E. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, said, “Road safety is a global challenge that requires action at scale. Through the FIA Road Safety Index, we are empowering organisations to do so by protecting their employees as well as all road users. I’m proud of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza’s achievement, as it shows how our sporting community can lead by example and drive meaningful change.”

Willem Groenewald, FIA Secretary General for Automobile Mobility, Sustainability and Tourism, said, “By embedding data-driven processes and accountability, the FIA Road Safety Index enables organisations to reduce risk and ultimately save lives. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza has demonstrated how these principles can be successfully implemented in practice.”

Geronimo La Russa, Automobile Club d’Italia President, said, “This is a significant milestone that reaffirms the role of the Monza National Autodrome as a unique symbol of global motor sport: the Temple of Speed — the oldest circuit still in use in Formula 1, the fastest in the World Championship, and one of the most beloved by drivers — has now also established itself as a model of safety, sustainability, and responsible innovation.”
