FIA LAUNCHES SUSTAINABILITY CHAMPIONS NETWORK

26.06.26
  • First Member Clubs formally welcomed to the Sustainability Champions Network (SCN) at FIA Conference in Macau
  • Member Clubs across all four Regions join the network to advance sustainability at a local level
  • The initiative is designed to strengthen collaboration on sustainability priorities collectively across the FIA and its global membership

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has today launched the Sustainability Champions Network (SCN), welcoming nominated representatives from Member Clubs across the world.

The Sustainability Champions Network is designed to improve collective understanding of local realities across the FIA membership, facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge exchange, and ensure that global sustainability initiatives are grounded in actionable, real-world intelligence. Nominated Member Club representatives will share local priorities and challenges, exchange practical examples and insights, and contribute feedback that helps shape the direction of FIA sustainability programmes.

The network has already welcomed representatives across 40 nations, representing a diverse range of Member Clubs and Regions committed to advancing sustainability at a local level.

The SCN will allow Member Clubs to participate at a level that reflects their capacity and ambition, from staying informed and accessing peer learning, to actively shaping network priorities and co-developing initiatives. All Champions will have access to practical tools, guidance, and learning opportunities including through FIA University.

The network was announced at the FIA Conference in Macau and welcomed its first members.

The FIA Member Clubs are central to the organisation's ability to drive meaningful sustainability progress at a global scale. Initiatives such as the FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme and the Safe and Sustainable Mobility Grants Programme already support Member Clubs in advancing sustainability.

The Sustainability Champions Network builds on this foundation by creating a community through which Member Clubs can learn from one another and contribute directly to the FIA's strategic priorities.

Andrew Fraser, Chair of the FIA’s Sustainability and D&I Committee, said:

“This important initiative reflects the reality that lasting sustainability progress requires strong collaboration and coordination to drive change. I welcome the launch of the Sustainability Champions Network and encourage FIA Member Clubs to get involved. This community will have the opportunity to learn from each other and develop tools to push progress forward."

Willem Groenewald, FIA Secretary General for Mobility, Sustainability and Tourism, said:

“Our Member Clubs are central to the way we think about sustainability. Through the communities they serve, the events they run, and the choices they make every day, they are operating in real environments, and they need real solutions. The Sustainability Champions Network will support these local leaders to overcome barriers, strengthen influence, and seize opportunities. I’m excited to work with this Network to create a truly collaborative and global forum where together we will champion the sustainability agenda.”
