FIA and Member Clubs Advance Urban Mobility and Road Safety at Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress
At Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress in Barcelona, the FIA delegation gathering representatives from 13 Member Clubs engaged with innovators, experts and city leaders on the future of urban mobility. Throughout a full programme of activities, the FIA showcased its commitment to shaping safer, more affordable and more sustainable mobility for everyone in cities and beyond.

Held alongside the Smart City Expo World Congress, the event gathered city officials, industry leaders, researchers and innovators to discuss key themes including green and active transport, digitalisation, shared mobility, accessibility, logistics and safety.
To start the event, FIA Member Clubs attended an Urban Mobility Incubation Workshop designed to connect them with selected leading mobility innovators. Through interactive demonstrations and exchanges, the innovators presented advances in areas such as predictive AI for motorcyclist safety, intersection risk modelling, cycle safety assessment, connected vehicle safety developments, drone applications for mobility and AI-based traffic management. The session also provided an opportunity to highlight the FIA’s ongoing work with Roadscor on intersection safety, as well as the FIA Driver Safety Index, the new global benchmark for assessing driver risk. These presentations offered Clubs valuable insight into the practical application of emerging tools and helped identify concrete opportunities for collaboration to support the deployment of safer and more efficient mobility services within their communities.
The afternoon featured the FIA’s open session, “Can organisations measure their safety footprint?”. During the panel discussion, Yuri Fernandez, DG Spain Operation at Uber, Raphael Humberto Rios Wilches, Líder Transporte at Compensar, Valentino Sevino, General Director, AMAT – City of Milan, María Torremocha, Technical Welfare Area Coordinator at Grupo Santalucía, and Cordelia Wilson, Events & Communications Director at Euro NCAP, underlined how organisations can drive meaningful change through structured safety assessment frameworks supporting operational excellence, strengthening accountability and enhancing user trust. The FIA Road Safety Index, a pioneering framework that helps organisations worldwide measure, manage and improve their road safety footprint, took centre stage with the announcement that Santalucía Seguros had achieved the FIA Road Safety Index 3-star rating, the highest possible. This recognition spotlighted Santalucía Group’s leadership in road safety management and was achieved thanks to the support of FIA Member Club Real Automóvil Club de España (RACE) and Fundación RACE. Developed by the FIA with the support of the FIA Foundation, the Index is increasingly adopted as a tool for reducing risk and saving lives at scale.
Also at the event, FIA Head of Road Safety & Global Advocacy Luca Pascotto delivered a keynote highlighting how the data-driven motor sport culture of continuous improvement, awareness and innovation can inspire safer streets in our cities.
FIA Mobility Clubs played an active role throughout the Congress programme. The Automòbil Club d’Andorra presented its work on drone training, while RACC hosted a side event on the future of mobility in Spain. Club contributions highlighted the depth of expertise within the FIA network and the essential role of Clubs in championing consumer rights and supporting local authorities and communities to drive impactful change in urban mobility systems.
The programme for Clubs also featured on-site visits to the SILENCE and EBRO factories, offering Delegates an opportunity to explore industrial innovation in mobility.
