European Autocross and Cross Car Championships
European Autocross and Cross Car Championships
The FIA European Autocross and Cross Car Championships are run on circuits on natural terrain, with any type of unsealed surface, from 800 to 1,400 metres in length.
Autocross events feature intense, short-format races with up to ten cars competing on track at the same time. Each event is made up of a series of qualifying heats, followed by two semi-finals and a high‑stakes final that decides the overall winner.
First established as an FIA European Cup in 1977, the discipline was elevated to full FIA European Championship status in 1982. Today, the championship places buggies centre stage, categorised according to performance level and driver profile across the SuperBuggy, Buggy1600 and JuniorBuggy classes.
Since 2021, the FIA European Autocross Championship have also featured competitions from the FIA European Cross Car Championship. The Cross Car structure now consists of two distinct categories: Cross Car, for experienced international competitors, and Cross Car Junior, designed to support the progression of young drivers at European level.
In 2026, the FIA European Autocross and Cross Car Championships will have 12 events across Europe, reinforcing the series’ strong international presence. Eight of these events will include rounds of the Cross Car Junior Championship, underlining the FIA’s commitment to driver development and to building a clear pathway towards the highest levels of off‑road motorsport.
